Living in rural and regional Queensland has its rewards — strong community ties, open spaces, and a relaxed lifestyle. But when it comes to the NDIS, participants outside the big cities often face hidden challenges that make their plans harder to use.
These are the most common barriers participants tell me about:
These barriers are real, but they don’t have to hold you back. That’s where my services come in.
How I Can Help You Overcome These Barriers
Support Coordination
I provide Support Coordination (Level 1 and Level 2) to help you make the most of your NDIS plan. As your Support Coordinator, I connect you with the right providers, negotiate service agreements, and make sure your funding is used effectively. NDIS Support Coordination is about taking the complexity out of the system so you can focus on your goals. With Support Coordination, you don’t have to spend hours chasing providers or worrying if your plan is being used properly.
Psychosocial Recovery Coaching
I also provide Psychosocial Recovery Coaching for people living with psychosocial disability. Psychosocial Recovery Coaching focuses on building confidence, resilience, and long-term recovery strategies.
With recovery coaching, I work alongside you to manage challenges, set achievable goals, and stay motivated. Many participants find that Psychosocial Recovery Coaching is the missing link between having a plan and actually using it consistently.
Peer Mentoring
The third service I offer is Peer Mentoring. Peer Mentoring is different from support coordination or recovery coaching it’s about having someone with lived experience walk beside you.
Through Peer Mentoring, we focus on practical skills like building routines, managing technology, increasing social confidence, and problem-solving in real life. Many participants in Cairns and across regional Queensland choose Peer Mentoring because it’s personal, flexible, and gives them a safe space to practice independence. With Peer Mentoring, you don’t just talk about your goals you build them step by step.
Final Word
The barriers in rural and regional Queensland limited providers, high travel costs, the digital divide, fewer social opportunities, and less advocacy — are real, but they don’t have to stop you.
With Support Coordination, Psychosocial Recovery Coaching, and Peer Mentoring, you can turn these challenges into opportunities and get the most out of your NDIS plan.
